Tribunal won't hear Ottawa community appeal based on height
The Ontario Local Planning Appeals Tribunal (LPAT), which recently overturned Kingston City Council’s decision on the Capitol Condos development, has ruled out a community appeal in Ottawa. It clears the way for a 65-storey high-rise approved by the City of Ottawa.
The Dalhousie Community Association filed an appeal against the building based on its height. A spokesman interpreted the decision to mean the appeals tribunal bases its decisions strictly on whether the decisions of local councils are legal and follow official planning rules.
